Solar Module Efficiencies in 2021

A summary of the currently available solar module efficiencies from the Photovoltaics Report for 2021.

Photovoltaics Report for 2021

This years Photovoltaics Report from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems provides us with a clear snapshot of where our industry is right now.

Read about the current levels of solar panel efficiency, and other helpful information for consumers, including a current list of manufacturers in the solar module space, the types of modules being produced, and their efficiencies.

Efficiencies of 20% are commonly available for European customers installing solar panels at this time.

PV technologies with higher energy conversion efficiencies have an advantage, because they require less area to deliver the same PV power.

For crystalline silicon solar modules, the report lists manufacturers such as LG, Longi, Trinasolar, Canadian Solar, Suntech and others producing solar panels with around 20% efficiency, and in the region of 350 Wp rated power per module.
