Grants for Solar Panels in Ireland

TAMS3 Funding for Solar Panels

Minister McConalogue has recently announced the start of TAMS3 funding from the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM).

Solar PV Projects for farms now have a power limit of 62 kW which is a significant improvement on previous guidelines.

Solar PV Projects now have ring-fenced stand-alone funding under the Solar Capital Investment Scheme (SCIS) of TAMS3.

Solar PV Projects now have a funding ceiling of €90,000 with up to 60% grant-aided investment.

We are TAMS DAFM registered solar PV installers, and would be happy to complete your On-farm solar PV survey for you, simply fill out the following form to begin!

SEAI Grants (NDMG)

Under the Non-Domestic Microgen Scheme (NDMG), substantial SEAI Grants are now available to farms, schools, sports clubs and community organisations – as well as for business and commercial projects.

With this scheme the maximum grant for your solar PV project is €162,400.

These supports are available for projects up to 1 MWp.

Schools Photovoltaic Programme (SPP)

A special strand of the Non-Domestic Microgen Scheme (NDMG) has been created for every school in Ireland. called the Schools Photovoltaic Programme (SPP).

With finance from the Climate Action Fund, every school is supported in the installation of up to 6 kWp of solar panels.

Please Contact Us today to discuss options for your school.

Microgeneration Support Scheme (MSS)

The Microgeneration Support Scheme (MSS) is being introduced in Ireland, and applies to premises with a solar PV system installed. This now includes homeowners, sports clubs, schools, farms, community organisations and businesses.

Based on the size of your solar PV system, you will either qualify for the Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) or the Clean Export Premium (CEP).

Clean Export Guarantee (CEG)

The Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) applies to systems under 6 kW.

The terms of the Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) are currently being set by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) and will be announced later this year, Q3 or Q4 2022.

Clean Export Premium (CEP)

The Clean Export Premium (CEP) applies to systems between 6 kW and 50 kW and is to take effect for 15 years with a feed-in tariff currently set at 13.5 cents/kWhr.

Under current network rules we can fit up to 7.5 kWp of solar PV for domestic or single-phase users, with much higher limits for users with a three-phase connection.

Solar Panels for Farm Buildings

+ TAMS Grants

Agricultural enterprises are advised to give serious consideration to all available supports under the current TAMS scheme. In addition to a full Operations & Maintenance support plan, Solar Now can also provide a more comprehensive range of services, such as;

• a comprehensive load analysis of your current electricity usage,
• a complete site evaluation,
• a full technical proposal for your project including the selection of appropriate solar modules, power electronics and batteries as required.

In addition our TAMS customers receive one year’s complete Operations & Maintenance (O&M) support by our engineers. Ongoing O&M support is important especially for larger commercial arrays.

Advantages of Solar PV in Agriculture

Among the benefits of installing solar photovoltaics for your agricultural enterprise are;

  • Increased profitability
  • Significantly reduce or eliminate a recurring cost from your business.
  • Safeguard your bulk product.
  • Reduce the risk of energy price inflation. Energy costs and inputs are continuing to rise dramatically.
  • Reduce your exposure to future grid-failure events or controlled grid-shut-down events.
  • Offsetting of future carbon taxes.

Contact us to discuss how these advantages relate to your business.

SEAI Grants for Solar Panels

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) offer a range of supports including grants for homeowners, businesses and community groups, to place solar panels on your home, your business or as part of your community project. Full current details are best viewed directly at the SEAI website.

The SEAI grant for solar battery or solar energy storage has been removed in Q1 of 2022.
