Solar Energy Grants under TAMS3

Solar Energy Grants TAMS 3

On Monday, Minister McConalogue, and colleagues, announced the investment of €370 million in Irish farms over the next five years.

This week’s announcement from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine should be welcome news for every farmer in Ireland.

Tranche 1 of TAMS3 is now available and Solar Panels on Farms is the first available investment in this tranche of funding.

Department of Agriculture Press Release

The Press Release states “In order to encourage the purchase of solar investments reducing dependence on fossil energy by farmers, the solar scheme will be ring fenced with its own investment ceiling of €90,000 and will be grant aided at the enhanced rate of 60%“.

The Minister continued “At a time of rising energy costs, I have prioritised the introduction of the solar investments first which will be open from next Wednesday. In addition to the higher grant rates, I have also increased the size of the available investments from 12kW to 62kW. The scheme will enable every farmer to generate their own power for their dwelling and holding and will help to achieve a more sustainable rural economy, assisting farmers in reducing energy costs on their holdings.”

Solar Capital Investment Scheme (SCIS) (TAMS3)

TAMS3 now includes a separate scheme dedicated to solar energy on farms called the ‘Solar Capital Investment Scheme (SCIS)’.

Under the SCIS farms can install up to 62 kW of solar energy with grant aided investment up to 60%.

The new Investment ceiling is €90,000.

In terms of power output, 62 kW can provide a significant amount of solar energy which will enable many farmers to achieve ENERGY INDEPENDENCE and help to transform the cost-base of farming in Ireland.

Fixing costs is a great way to ensure stability and increase the profitability of farms.
